When should a woman have her first Breast cancer screening

I didn't think they mammograms until you're at least 40... ? I'm sure every doctor is different. You should be allowed to have one if you have breasts and any concerns though.

I always get breast exams, but have yet to have a mammogram. I'll be 33 in December, and will be having a mammogram after I give birth. I have a history of breast cancer in my family so I will be requesting one.

My dr said 40. I'm honestly terrified of having a mammogram, I have implants and am not at all comfortable with a machine that could potentially cause them to burst. I realize that it doesn't mean they will , and I understand that screening is important but when my time comes for screening,'I think I'm opting for other options if they are available.  I know I'm not invincible and am not ignorant. We have never had any  breast cancer in either side of my family, thankfully. For now I just do self exams, yearly dr exams and hopefully there are other options for me when I need to be screened

I think it really depends on the woman and the history of the family. My Aunt has breast cancer, so I've already started getting checked yearly and I'm 33.

I begged my doctor they just laughed at me. My grandma had breast cancer caused by hormone replacment for menapause. Im 25 i asked at 20ish

I had my first at 24. I have a ton of bc, and ovarian cancer in my family. Every woman on my bio mothers side has had it (except the ones that are still under 18, and my bio mother who passed young and didn't care for her health. Everyone else passed due to cancer secondary to breast.

I'm 24 and have already had a screening not for any particular reason but my Dr just recommended it.

I have a gene mutation that makes me have a high chance of getting breast cancer (90%) so I get checked starting at age 24 or 25

Depends. Is there a history of breast cancer in your family? If yes, then you get a mammogram earlier than others. I'll be getting one at 30 because 3 of my aunts have had breast cancer
