Maternity leave question in CA
For people who live in California, I plan to use the Paid Family Leave (PFL) option, plus some accrued PTO when I go on maternity leave. But I also plan on not working up until my due date and leaving a few weeks before. My question is: Do I have to wait until my baby is born for submit my PFL application? What is everyone else's pay/no pay situations for the weeks leading up to the birth, if you will also not be working then?
Bonus question: If you do not plan on returning to your job after your leave is over, when will you tell your company and why?
Please response if you are in a similar situation. Not if you're working until the due date or taking some other leave that I don't qualify for. Or if you live in a different state or country with different laws. I don't care about your paid 12 months off in other countries lol... I'm the the U.S...
