Safe to eat smoked turkey leg?

I got a smoked turkey leg from an event. I took 3 bites but then I thought about the consequences.  Is it safe to eat? I heard we aren't supposed to eat smoked meats.

My dr says not to eat anything smoked because it's not evenly/thoroughly cooked. I'm sure you're okay with just 3 bites though. You made a good call by stopping.

As long as it is cooked and not raw in any way, I would say it should be fine.
