For expecting with toddlers, have you told your little one? How did they react?

My son will be three on October 3rd. My husband and I have spent the passed few weeks explaining that he's going to have a baby sister. He loves giving her hugs and kisses! I'm just curious to hear how other toddlers have taken the news.

If you've had a baby with a toddler before, how did he/she act when the baby came?

Our daughter is so excited (and protective) for her little brother. We are trying to include her in everything we can and have purchased several books about her role as a new big sister and what it will be like with a new baby. She also makes sure to test out her brothers new stuff with her baby doll. We are making sure to have baby stuff for her doll so she can mimic us as well as help out.

I have a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old boy. When I was pregnant with my son, my daughter was so excited. She would rub my belly... And when he was born she would help. She would cover him up, with me supervising... And get me diapers so I could change him. Now that I am pregnant again, my daughter is again excited... But asking lots of questions like... How will baby come out? Do I have to watch? How did baby get in there? Lol My 2 year old son is just loving on my baby bump... Lol he has started to sit beside me now, not in my lap though. I asked him to come sit with me and pointed to my lap and he said no, bc he would squish baby... Lol I hope he will handle it fine. He will almost be 3 when the new one comes... I think he might have a harder time adjusting bc he is such a mama's boy... Just remember that you have more than one now and need to try to make special time with your older child. Hope this helps...

My son will be 3 in December but he's got mild autism. I've tried telling him he's going to be a big brother and I point to my belly and say there a baby in my tummy but I don't think he comprehends it.
