Bleeding while on BC?!

So I've been on birth control for almost a month now. I already had my actual period for this month. Just recently I started having vaginal bleeding, like a lot. It was like a period minus the cramps and everything! Is this normal?! I've been bleeding on and off for about 5 days now. If you have any experience with this kind of thing on birth control pleasee help. (Sorry if I sound desperate) Lol
