What do you think of Cain?

Question

So my partner and I like the name, but obviously there are some pretty negative biblical connotations. Neither of us are associated with a particular faith, so I guess it shouldn't matter. Still though, I think some people think the name is evil and a bit like calling a child Lucifer. 
What do you guys think?

If we have a boy, we're naming our son Cain! And we're both Christian! I've struggled with the negative connotations of it, too, but it is a good, strong name. Upon research, I learned that, Biblically, Eve named her son Cain because the Hebrew meaning is "to create." Eve named him Cain because she created a child with God. I know you aren't religious, but I'm sharing this because, despite its negative reputation, Cain is a beautiful name! It is what you make it. It's growing on me more and more.

I think no matter what you name your child people will have their opinions. We named our son Jude and immediately got ignorant comments about it...like oh no that's another name for Judas or Jew and people will hate him or want to harm him. I do live in the Bible Belt though. My son has a little boy named Cain in his preschool and I never though of the bad connotation because it's a name it doesn't dictate the child's personality. We also gave our son a very tradition middle name so that if he choose not to use Jude he had another option.

I don't think of evil when I hear it. Go with it if that's what y'all like. The name doesn't define who he will be anyways not like you naming him Cain will make him a bad person

Cain definitely murdered his brother so whether the name itself is evil or not it's just not a great connotation. But then again Delilah and Jezebel have gained popularity and their stories are pretty bad too. You could always change the spelling. Kane or Cayne maybe?

I'm one of those people that gave my dog a middle name. His name is Oliver Kane. At first I was concerned but I think changing the spelling helped me get over the negative stereotype of it.

Cain killed Able so maybe consider the meaning there... Idk I wouldn't just because I wouldn't be comfortable with it! It doesn't sit right with me! Its a cute name alone but idk, I wouldn't personally!
