Helpless virgin

My boyfriend and I tried to have sex for the first time in July, we were both virgins but it hurt so bad he couldn't go all the way. Now it's October and we've tried again maybe 7-8 other times and it doesn't get much easier for me. Am I just supposed to let him shove himself in me? Because it's been extremely painful.
