Sex in a hot tub/pool?

My boyfriend has a hot tub and I was wondering if sex while your privates are underwater is safe. People have said to me that it's not safe to be thrusting water in your vagina and I don't want to get an infection or if it's safer not to do it submerged at all.

Is it okay to do it in a bath tub, hot tub or swimming pool?

Because hot tubs are so warm and (unlike a bath) the water has been sitting for a while they're great places for bacteria and germs to harvest. That being said, I think it would depend when the water was changed, if it's outside or under cover, the chemicals added to the water, etc. We used to have a hot tub when I was a kid and I got told never to put my head under the water cause it's so germy and not good for your ears. Probably depends on that particular tub though. Not sure about pools but I'd say there's similar factors to consider
