Most tests say anything after 10 minutes is invalid. I always used 10 minutes as the rule.

It probably depends on how far into the pregnancy you are, as that might determine how long the strip takes to pull in enough dye to show a line. However, if you wait too long and the test starts to dry, then you can't trust the result because it could just be an evap. So if you wait the full 10min to read it, you're risking not getting a trustworthy result. I think it's just more mentally worthwhile to read it before the 10min mark and then toss it. And if you really think you are, then just take a new test in a day or so after your levels have had time to rise more.

It took every bit of the ten minutes for my bfp to show up this pregnancy.  I even tested again a week later and it still took the whole ten.   It did turn out i was testing very early.  About 7dpo the first time so maybe that's why.

I've had a few women take the tests and come up negative and late that day say positive (they saved it to SO later) and by that it turned positive and by fact they were. So I think it really depends

I don't know about that... The one time I took one and was actually pregnant it turned positive before I finished peeing.
