What to tell people about surgery

Hi new friends...I hope some of you can help me with this. I have an upcoming diagnostic laparoscopy/lysis of adhesions and hysteroscopy in 2 weeks. I work with teenagers, and I'm trying to figure out how to tell them and some of their parents very vaguely why I will be out with surgery for a few days. My HS Theatre teacher told us horrifying details about her endometriosis and the state of each tube and reproductive issues...and looking back, I think that was inappropriate.

So I can just say, "I will be having a small surgery." But then I don't know what to say next when they ask "on what" or "what's wrong?" I don't want to say "female problems" or "we are trying to have a baby," or "my left tube is blocked," but I really don't know what else to say. If you've been there or have an idea, please share!

Just say "that is my personal business, but it is nothing major" or something of that matter when they pry, which they will. Leave it at that. You may want to take more than a few days. A week really is best. The gas that they use to puff up your belly while they do the laparoscopy will take about a week to fully dissipate. In the meantime, it will rise to the highest point in your body. If you are sitting up or standing, this will cause excruciating pain in your shoulders and chest. It builds the longer you sit up/stand. When you lay flat, the gas is dispersed through your body and doesn't cause any pain.

if I were you I'd just say a surgery and when they ask just brush it off and say it's nothing major. or you could say laparoscopy and they probably won't know what it means and won't ask anymore questions.

I had mine at the beginning of school and told my high-school girls it was for endometriosis my boys didn't pry when I said surgery. Some of the girls started researching. I think it's a good thing they were looking us symptoms it raised awareness and if they start to have troubles they know it's not just normal to hurt that bad or your cycles be so irregular or anything like that. It's ultimately a personal decision what you tell them. I just told mine for endo and left it at that.
