Baby doesn't seem to want to come out?!

Question

I just came home from my OBGYN I am 39 weeks along today. 1 week to go... So I hope! My Dr. Said that it looks like my baby will be coming later then expected. It worries me and from my Dr. demeanor he's as well. 
I am planning on a vaginal birth, but he's growing and growing. I don't want the baby to rip me completely apart or have a super hard/long delivery... I am debating on having a Csection, but I don't want a huge scar or be awake for it. I also don't really want to be infused? I'm worried and confused on what to do. I like walk a lot like everyone is telling me but I am not having enough contractions... I am lost right now.

Your baby will come out when he/she is ready. There's no need for intervention/induction or c-section unless the baby is in distress which isn't likely. Don't let any doctor scare you into anything you dont feel comfortable doing. Good luck!

You don't need to be induced or have a c section just because the baby doesn't come on your due date. It's not actually a due date, it's just a guess. Baby's supposed to come between 38 and 42 weeks, and as long as nothing's wrong with you two there's no need to make baby come
Early. My mom had my brother vaginally at 42 weeks, knowing he'd probably be big (just because she had big kids, not because he was late). He was nine pounds and she delivered him just fine. The sucky part of a vaginal birth is the birth but the sucky part of a c section goes on for ages after. I won't allow anyone to induce me for being late until I hit 42 weeks.

My son was 8 days over due and came in weighing over 9lbs. I had a vaginal delivery and only one tiny little tear that didn't even need stitches.

Just relax and trust your body. Push when it tells you to push and don't try to force it. The more you relax the less tense your muscles will be and the less chance you'll have of tearing.

In the meantime ask for membrane sweeps and stay active. Your baby will be here before you know it :)

Just wait until baby is ready. The size doesn't actually increase your chance of tearing. My friends baby was 12pound and she had him naturally, vaginally at home.

My daughter was 9 days over and weighed almost 10 pounds. I had a 3rd degree tear. To tell you the truth, it wasn't even bad. And I wasn't that sore after. I had her on Friday morning. We went home Sunday afternoon and Monday I took my dog to the bathroom and ran down the stairs at my apartment. Having a baby doesn't destroy you down there.

Tears heal more quickly than cuts. And your vagina is made to get messed up a bit, it heals quickly. Don't worry, your baby will come when he or she is ready!
