Kitty Help!!
-- We got a year old cat a few days ago - Naveah. She's an Angora, and true to her breed, she's a prissy little drama queen (but we love her anyways). She grooms herself more often than any other long haired breed and because of this, we were expecting to clean up a hairball every day or every other day.
-- She wasn't eating the food her previous owners gave us (Wellness Complete Health for indoor cats) even after she fully settled in. She was only eating the bare minimum to survive and we did notice that she feels thinner than she should. So we switched her food to Purina Cat Chow for indoor cats - with hairball formula. Naveah went for the new food right away and eats regularly now.
-- We switched her over to this new food about a day and a half ago, and in the past 24 hours, she's had FIVE hairballs. In the four days before we switched her over, she didn't have a single hairball.
-- Her grooming hasn't changed, her number of treats (aka, a spoonful of wet food every morning) or amount of fresh water hasn't changed - it's just the food (and I started re-painting the kitchen, but her food isn't close enough for paint to get in it).
-- Should I switch her back over to the food she hardly ate and just give her more wet food? Should I try and let her adjust to this new food that she loves and just deal with the excessive hairballs for a while? She seems perfectly happy still, which is great, but I don't know what to do.
-- Help me help my kitty :(
