36 weeks appointment

I have my appointment in two hours. I know I will be getting tested for group b strep. But at my last appointment my nurse said to expect an exam today. How many of you didn't have your cervix checked at your 36 week appointment? Just looking for what to expect. I know every doctor is different. I have been having contractions for about a week. They are painful but in no way consistent. Just very random.
