35 wks 2cm dilated, 70% effaced

Okay ladies help me out here. This is my second pregnancy and it's been complicated to say the least. I was put on bedrest at 27 weeks for a placental abruption. I'm now at 35 weeks and 5 days. At my appointment at 35 weeks exactly, I was dilated to 2cm and 70% effaced. I have slowly been losing my mucus plug over the last 3 days. With my first pregnancy, I was induced. How long after you lose your mucus plug did you go into labor? Or did your water break? I have had some pretty horrible contractions but they aren't consistent. I know every woman and pregnancy is different but I'm not sure what and when to expect the next step.
