Acne probs

My husband has semi bad acne. He has ever since he hit puberty. He got it from his mother. He feels self conscious about it, which makes me upset. What are some acne products that FOR SURE will work? He doesn't get little pimples, he gets these boil type pimples. He said every thing he tried doesn't work.
