TMI ..Finally got period after months 😩

So I finally got my period (i think ) after almost 5 months .. Well this morning me and my partner were having sex and I started bleeding .. Like a lot .. Well afterwards I put a pad on through out the day but the bleeding stop ? I don't understand what happened.. Was it a period or something else  ?
