Child abuse?

Now come on, half of us should remember when we were children there was the belt or slap or something for being naughty. Now parents just ground there children and take items off them. What is everyone's opinion? Because honestly taking something off a child doesn't work because they know they'll get it back. Do you count slapping/belting your child not on the face obviously say maybe bum your something as child abuse. Remember how it worked with you if you had this kinda of thing growing. Just what's everyone's opinions?
