Staying with my boyfriend in the hospital?

Does it make me stupid? My family seems to think so... I'm calling out of work tomorrow and spending the night with him cause I don't want him to be alone. He's having his appendix removed and I thought the best thing to do was stay by his side...

That's a nice gesture but depending on the hospital this may not be an option. Some hospitals, especially a surgical floor, have shared rooms which means family cannot stay overnight in the room.

Most hospitals I have been to have visiting hours and don't allow family to spend the night. I would clarify before calling out of work n all. I think it's a nice gesture tho

Appendicitis is very painful, it might not sound like a big deal to your family but it's worth taking seriously!  so I don't think it's a problem so long as your boyfriend and rhe hospital are OK with it.

I took four days off work and drove to another state to take care of my husband when he had surgery. We weren't living together at that point because of our jobs.

I think that's very sweet. If taking a day off work won't put your job in jeopardy I don't see why it's a bad idea at all.

I had to have my appendix removed and my husband would only leave the hospital if my mother was there and inky long enough to come home to shower and change. Even though he's my ex now, I will never forget how he was there for me. The nurses aren't always around when you really need something and I felt so crappy that I couldn't fend for myself. You're right to stay with him.

It's fine, as long as you aren't going to lose your job over it. When my hubby had emergency gall bladder surgery, they gave him a normal room since the surgeon wasn't avail until morning (emergency heart surgery on another patient pushed back my hubby's surgery), and the staff asked me if I was going to stay the night & wanted a blanket. We lived right down the road though, so i just went home to sleep in an actual bed and returned around the time he would be out of surgery.

My boyfriend slept in the room with me when I had emergency gall bladder surgery. I have a fear of hospitals and he was there to hold my hand when they had to stick me with anything... hate shots, love tattoos. Go figure. You're not stupid for staying. I would do it for my boyfriend (now fiance..) in a heartbeat!
