IUIs without hormones?

Curious on this.... We've been TTC for 1.5+ years and are now working with doctors. We've gone through all our testing and discovered two things - I have low progesterone and the morphology of my husband's sperm is off. We just finished our first IUI cycle (and it didn't work). They want to do two more months of IUIs and then add hormones with IUIs. I'm really really scared to take hormones and have heard horror stories but I've also noticed that I don't really know/have read of anyone doing IUIs without supporting medication. Thinking I should just pull the trigger and jump on the hormone bandwagon early perhaps?

I did IUI with clomid and hormone support after 4y TTC and unexplained infertility. The clomid wasn't that bad - I took it at night, I did get a few hot flashes overnight and didn't sleep great those few days, but otherwise not bad at all during the day, and no more symptoms after that last day of taking it. I was given estrogen (vaginal suppositories) for a few days before the ovidrel (trigger shot) to help grow my lining. No side effects other than blue discharge. After the IUI I took progesterone suppositories 3x daily. Two weeks of that and I had my first ever BFP. I was a little emotional/sensitive overall thru the month but not too badly affected by any of it, and who isn't sensitive/moody in the 2ww when TTC?? Getting intervention wasn't that bad at all, and the result was TOTALLY worth it! Trust your doctors, they know how to get you pregnant... It will absolutely happen! Best of luck!!

I'm on my first IUI medicated with hormones. Not bad at all! The suppositories I'm kinda over, invest in panty liners, but other then that super sore boobs! I can deal ☺️
If they are going to help do them! I didn't want to mess around so I told my docs I wanted to be aggressive with my IUI treatment. We find out tomorrow if it worked.

I'm using frozen donor sperm and have had six unmedicated IUIs with one miscarriage. I don't have any issues but the frozen sperm doesn't work as well as fresh sperm. We are starting with meds this cycle and I wish we would have done it sooner. I have found the Process to be very emotionally challenging and the truth is that IUIs are not that effective of a treatment. You might consider just going for the meds in order to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

I'm at the end of my 3rd medicated cycle and hoping for a BFP this week. Anyway, I don't think the hormones are that bad. I've felt fine but after three months I have gained a few pounds which is annoying. The shots are easy and for me I've been using the suppositories for progesterone. That's messy and a bit itchy some days but overall it's nothing to be worried about!
