Blocked tubes?

should I ask my dr to do a HSG?(hysterosalpingogram) I have been on femara  for 6 months now and ovulated every month but no dice....I've been trying for almost 6 years and I even had surgery in 2012 to remove a large cyst and endometrial tissue. I have also tried several other medications but all have failed to result in ovulation and (obviously) pregnancy. Recently my dr was talking about trying IUI. Its getting really expensive so I am trying to figure out the best path for me...any advice?

You haven't had an HSG during this process at all?  If so, that's crazy. If your tubes are blocked, IUI will be a waste of time and money. My tubes are blocked. All my tests came up normal. I ovulate on time every month like clock work but it means nothing because egg and sperm are prevented by the blockage from coming into contact. This is clearly shown on the HSG.

Your dr should not suggest iui if you aren't ovulating. Especially without doing an hsg first. Ask your dr why they haven't, or better yet get a new dr. I have PCOS and endo. I requested an hsg instead of just going straight to surgery to confirm it was necessary. I ended up needing surgery to clear a blocked tube. Turned out it was just a large cyst pushing it closed. My dr didn't recommend iui or ivf unless we did at least an hsg first. His thoughts were it would be a waste of money, but not all docs actually care about that. After surgery and a few rounds of letrozole I finally did iui. Worked on the first round.

My question is, has your husband been checked?  It seems like you have gone through alot. Getting my husband checked is our next step. Going on 4 years and this last year with several different meds. Good luck, and baby dust.
