Would your life be totally different if you had a different name?

For example, if my name is Ashley and I was born with a name like Kristen or Ariel...do you think this would have any impact on your life? Would it be different?

Yes; employers are more likely to higher me if I go by first name Samantha than if I go by my second name Tijquanna. I would have gotten into more schools, and I would have also gotten more scholarships.

Eh. My previous last name was "Little" and I was a very overweight child so all through out elementary and middle school people called me "Ali not so Little". As if it was my actual name. So maybe my life would've been slightly smoother if I didn't have to experience that joke. But I don't know.

Maybe, maybe not. I have had people tell me they wouldn't hire me because of my name as an insult. (They were not potential employers just random assholes). But sometimes I wonder if people feel that way.

Maybe. If I had a more common name that people could pronounce the first time, then I probably would have felt better about myself. I've had so many teachers butcher my name, even after numerous corrections. I'm always called Ariel and it pisses me off because the F in Afriel isn't silent 😑 I can't even begin to list all the different  names and pronunciations I've been called. I've even been called Raphael!!! But that was by a Hispanic women....but it still pisses me off because I'm neither a boy nor Hispanic. I guess what really pisses me off is when someone can remember to pronounce a much more difficult name than mine, yet continue to fail horribly with mine.

On the plus side, I love my name and how unique it is. I've never had the problem of having friends with the same name. Like my sister Ashley had at least 3 friends who were Ashley as well and they'd all get together to hang out. That must have gotten confusing at times 😝 And I love getting compliments about my name. And my dad named me, and it's one of the few good things I have from him.

I think so. My name is Ashley so if I had an uncommon name then people may not be able to pronounce it. But I do get asked how to spell my name because of the other ways to spell it. But it's no big deal I just say the regular way.

My name is Judith and I was named after my aunt who died at birth so I wouldn't want a different name but if I had a different name I don't think it'd affect my life any.
