Lost my virginity. Should I tell my mom?

So this may sound silly but I recently lost my virginity and I'm debating if I should tell my mom. No, I'm not in my teens, I'm actually 21.

My mom is my bff and I want to share my experience with her but I'm afraid she's going to flip out. Has anyone told their parents they lost their virginity and if so, how did they handle it?

I totally understand!!!! I'm 19 and I just lost mines. And I'm the same way with my mom! But I'm scared what she would think. And the bad thing is that I still live with her! But I think you should tell her I think she wouldn't mind. She probably thinks it's quite okay. But it's totally up to YOU. You can let her continue to think your a virgin up until your 55 if you'll like to lol Good luck tho

Yeah neither of my parents know because my mom always told me she hoped I would wait until marriage. My parents and I have a great relationship now, and it's just not worth risking how they'll react and treat me afterwards! I suppose you just have to weigh the situation and do what you feel is best for you and your mother :) good luck!

I told my dad and frankly he didn't care! He just wants to make sure I'm not being violated and that I'm using protection. He knows that my SO and I are consenting adults, so there's really no reason for him to flip out. Sex is a normal thing.

I would look back on previous conversations with your mother about other things sort of related to sex (like first kiss, boyfriends, dating, etc) and evaluate how she reacted to those. If they were relatively positive, then go ahead and tell your mom. Also, you're 21. There's no need to feel ashamed or anything like that, so don't let that damper your decision. :)
