What do I do?

My husband and I are expecting our second child on 1/19...a little girl. We have a 4 year old boy named Evan. We love the name Julia     .  My sister is also pregnant and due 4/17 and just told us her favorite girl name is Julianna! We both like the nickname Jules!  What do I do???  Do I use the name and risk upsetting her or do I come up with another name and then what is she doesn't use the name. So conflicted....

I would talk to your sister and ask her how set she is on Julianna because you and hubby really like Julia.

It shouldn't matter. Name your child whatever you want. If anyone gets upset, that's ridiculous, it's rare you can go through life without finding someone with the same name, and these aren't even the same, just similar. And as for nicknames, who knows, you might start calling her something else.

Well, if you're both okay with naming them so similarly, do that. But if you don't want them to have similar names then the right thing to do would be to come to and agreement with each other. I wouldn't mind having my kid have a similar name to another kid in my family, but I know some might.

First in first served... If she won't talk to you - and you were being nice and offering to change, then use Julia first and she will be forced to change
