Birthing center

Alright ladies I am not very far along but I do know how I want my birth to go. I unfortunately live in a relatively small town and the only midwives are attached to the hospital and they tend to do births like you would see with an OB. The closest birthing center is about an hour away, I am trying to convince everyone that this isn't that big of a deal but everyone thinks it's to far. My mind is set and as long as the birthing center will take me it is where I want to be. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on the distance? Thanks <3
