MediCal in LA

Has anyone had a baby with MediCal as their insurance in Los Angeles? I'm hearing stories by some women I know (whom have private insurance) that the level of care is much less and now I'm scared. Do I get my own room in the hospital or will I be with other preggo ladies? The father of my baby is saying he'll pay for private insurance but I honestly don't think he's going to. I'm not from America so I don't know the real differences between private care and this MediCal thing...
