Scared! Spotting!! Help

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and have been having light bleeding that's bright red in color. I've heard that sometimes this is normal being that the placenta is getting ready to take over. The position of the placenta can cause bleeding, if that makes any sense. However, I could not get an appointment until 4 more days. I was told not to worry because I'm not cramping. But seriously, how can I not. I'm trying hard not to freak out. Has anyone else experienced this and everything been okay?
