I can't decide...

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for over a year, i'm really happy with him and he's happy with me. I've wanted to tell him that I love him but i'm so scared that he won't say it back. I asked him today if we can hangout tomorrow, he said he'll ask his mom, but i think I'm going to tell him I love him. If he doesn't say it back, does that mean he's not right for me and that we're not meant for each other? Or is he just not ready? I'm just really nervous... What should I do? When did you tell your SO that you love them?
