Were you ever fully "ready" to start a family?

Question

I'm so wrapped up in having enough money and getting somewhere in my career that I'm afraid I won't ever get that "I'm ready to be a mom" feeling. We're living comfortably and happy with our jobs. My husband is ready and begging to try, but he's also 9 years older than me and lives a very whatever happens, happens and just roll with it lifestyle. I would love a baby and I want them young so now would be great but I can't let go of the feeling that I need more control of life before having children. It's the what ifs that scare me. How did you deal with it if you're like me?

Okay I'm going to post but I hope people don't judge me for my mistakes I've made... 
In 2011 me and my SO went down the deep end and both started using drugs... It escalated FAST! We went from just party drugs here and there to a full blown meth addiction for 8 months. It was a crazy time.... Something I look back on and don't ever want to go back to. With that back story I will tell you that we both got sober on our own in  Feb 2012. Litterally 2 weeks after getting sober we found out that I was 10 weeks pregnant. I look at it as I was not ready to be pregnant in any way, shape, or form! Not only was it terrible timing but I had so many problems I was trying to recover from. But my daughter was the biggest blessing of my life! I think she saved us from that terrible lifestyle we were living. 
So to answer your question: No I don't think you're ever fully "ready". I believe these children are placed in our lives when we need them most- ready or not.
We're now coming up on 3 years sober, with a beautiful-healthy 2-year-old daughter, and our son will be born in March of 2016. (We weren't planning for this one either.) 
I think it's not whether you're ready for a child; but how you handle the responsibility of being given the opportunity to raise that child.
And again- please don't judge me on my past.

My one word of advice for people with no kids who kinda want them..... 
your never going to be as ready as you want to be or think you are. But its the journey of learning and growing together as a family that makes everyday worth it. Don't get to Overwhelmed with trying to have everything in your life perfect and put together for a baby.... because quite honestly its life, its unpredictable at all times, and is always changing. But that's the beauty of it. :)

I've only been married and out of college for a year and a half. Living in a one bedroom apartment 11 hours away from home. but yet my husband and I are trying for baby #1!

My mom always told me not to wait until we are financially ready, or we would never have kids. Unless you're a millionaire, you won't ever be fully prepared to financially take care of kids, but we will make it work just like everyone else!

It's scary and exciting, but I think it'll be worth it! :)

We got pregnant less than a month into seeing eachother. So relationship wise, we probably were not ready. I had 3 jobs at the time, he was unemployed, so financially, kind of not ready. Before we were half way through that pregnancy, he had a job, i decreased to 2 jobs (healthier for me), our relationship grew magnificently. By the time our first was born, we were staying with my mom (which was fine) both had jobs, had everything we needed for the baby. And were engaged. We did great 
Our second we both had jobs. Were in our own place, had planned on getting pregnant, and had our first potty trained.

Considering the fact I got pregnant at 17, no job, car,  lived with my boyfriend's parents but now he's leaving for national guard and I'm taking on my own life I'd say have a family when you feel ready and most stable for sure but if we went from nothing to something I'm sure you can do it. :) baby's are so great and I know 17 was a bad age but, I like having a daughter so young for some reason. I'm such a better person and I'm so happy. Now, I'm not sure when I'll have another baby... lol 
Do what you want to do, you'll have about 10 months to really prepare to lol goes by faster than you'd think though.

Just start a family! I think it's rare to ever feel truly "ready". And it's not like life stops after a kid, you can still keep doing stuff and continue to feel more settled. And you never know how long it may take to conceive. Sounds like you are as ready as ever yo start the journey!

I haven't started a family yet but I do feel ready to. We're planning our wedding next year and also about to buy a house.
My other half wants to wait until we're in the house but we're only about 6 months off being there so I honestly just think it'd all work out.
Don't forget, life isn't over after kids....If you have them young you basically have another life after!! My mum went back to uni after I moved out and started a whole new career!
I think if you're thinking you might not be ready, you're probably not. But think a little more into it long term wise! You'll find a way to manage. And your career doesn't have to end xx

I was terrified and now I regret not having kids sooner. Seriously. Unless some serious travelling is in your near future maybe just go for it, because you'll never feel ready! Mind if we ask how old you are-ish? Lol I was scared up until the moment I went into labour and was so ready for her! She is legit my bff
