Religion differences?!!😰

We are very much in love... But unsure how will it continue because of our religion differences. It doesn't matter to me much because I would honor him and his very tradition family and would raise our child (in the future) as Christian. But for myself, I don't want to change because of my traumatized experiences within my family that broke the family in pieces. I don't want to chose because it would break someone heart, so therefore, I choose to be neutral. I always had been... His parents love me, so does the rest of his family but they won't want us to married cause I'm not a Christian. He's also taken back by this, because he wanted somebody to support him spiritually to become closer to God. Which I respect. So idk... Wer 6months together now and don't want to break up cause we still love each other but all we could think about is what will the future hold if it isn't already easy?

I'm an Muslim. My husband is Buddhist. We respect each enough to allow each other to practice our religion. If they can't respect your decision to not convert, then move on.

I personally think it would make it very hard on your SO to have a Christian family and raise his kids 100% in a Christian way, if his wife was not Christian. Plus one of the best things about a Christian marriage is to be able to share in Bible studies and family bible time. He would miss out on that if he stayed with you. He would have to keep his religion to himself or to him and just the kids when in reality the spouse is supposed to be the extension of oneself. Idk I just know what it was like growing up in a household with one Christian parent and one not. It caused a lot of isolation for my mom (the Christian one) because she couldn't share her experiences with her husband in a meaningful way. It also has hindered her own personal relationship and growth with God. My husband and I are both devout Christians and I can't imagine not being able to go to him for prayer when I need him, sharing what we have learned when we study the Bible, attending praise and worship together, etc. I know this is long but what I'm saying is, if God is an important part of his life, then it might not be a good fit for the two of you to stay together.

On the other hand, maybe there is a reason why you two were brought together. Maybe he's meant to help you grow spiritually and become closer to God through him. I think if you really love him and truly want to be with him then maybe it's worth trying. Sit down with him sometime and have you tell you why his faith is so important to him and maybe that will give you a better understanding of Christianity, who knows maybe you'll even relate to him and his thoughts.

If it is hard already and he says he needs someone to support him spiritually, I can assure you it won't last. 
Of course you can try, but he's doubting already.

I wouldn't be able to be with someone who's less religious than me, especially with a kid because there are so many decisions to make and it's so much harder if one of you is not religious.

When it comes to Christianity, marriage is extremely important to be on the same page about. The bible has specific outlines on how a marriage should be, what marriage entails, etc. That could be a big issue. I would definitely talk about it, not avoid this.

I was raised Catholic (but can't say I agree with or even follow it much any more) and my husband is Jewiah. At the begonnimg of the relationship he made it clear he would only marry a non-Jewish girl if she'd convert. I said "maybe" I would if I could learn more about the religion (mostly becauae its ao important to him). That was four years ago. We're married now, trying to start a family, and I haven't converted. I am a very spiritual person and believe in God and I reapect my husband's family and religious traditions, but I've made it clear I don't need an organized religious label to do this. He's fine with it now that he knows me well, knows I'm a good person, and kmows I am willing to raise any future children following his religion because I know how important it is to him. I feel like I was in tour same dilemma once...but our immense love for one another changed our initial ideas and wants for future spouses. Maybe the same will happen fo you? Your relationship is still young :)

My husband and I are both atheist but we've agreed to teach our children about atheism and about God and let them decide for themselves.

If you guys are truly in love than I'm sure you'll get through it. While yes being the same religion may make things easier, he fell in love with the you that doesn't follow the same religion. You guys are still young in the relationship. There's plenty of time for change and for people to accept being different. Don't doom it all just yet unless you really want to.

I wanna upset anyone but this is why I couldn't be in a relationship with someone who has different beliefs to what I do, as I feel it would be a constant battle with bringing up children in a household where parents both have different beliefs. Luckily both me and my partner are atheists so we don't have a problem.
