Secretive/Privacy

My boyfriend for 3years now going on 4 in February still feels the need to go in the other room and be all private when it comes to his family members when they are on the phone talking about family situations and I get in my feelings about it simply because I feel he shouldn't be uncomfortable to deal with family issues around me seeing that he could be my potential husband down the line! How do I go about this?
