Clearblue blue dye question

I went to take a pregnancy test this morning and I noticed that when I took the test out of the package there was a faint negative line already. I'm not sure if this is normal? I tested anyways and got a bfn. I am two days late for my period and was hoping for a Christmas miracle! Maybe something was wrong with the test? I can't bear to test again as the negative results break my heart.
