Sequential Screen

I'm a first time mommy to be and going to every doctor appt makes me so nervous! This is my 2nd sono and baby is doing well but there was a mention of sequential screening to check for birth defects. This makes me terrified. Did anyone have this done? Is it suggested? I've read to call my insurance to ensure its cover. Thanks in advance!
