Hello ladies! I wanted to hear some opinions of what you think of my situation. I'm 19 years old, I go to college. And have a job. I'm dating a 35 year old. We have been dating for quite a while. I want to start my life and move out the house. We both are planning to get our own place. I'm a responsable person. My parents tell me all the time I'm too young . But they just don't understand that I want to start my life, and be happy. Both of my parents are Hispanic and in an Hispanic family is way different we still have to ask for permission even if we are adults because is their house!! They rule! I have always obey them. (I'm not putting any racism to this!) So what should I do? How should I approach them with the news! We have been already shopping for things for the apartment and apartment hunting! We plan to move in together this year!

Honestly I agree with your parents... You're still pretty young. One of my best friends is Hispanic & she's 29... She still lives at home just moving out after she's married this summer. I know it probably feels like your parents are being strict. But are you really ready for all that? Bills and everything... School is harder with all the added responsibilities.
Looking back I wish I would have taken advantage of living at home longer.

I say you should stop dating this man and move out on your own. I am 26 and I just got out of a relationship with a man was is 39. Things didn't work out because we came from very distinctive backgrounds and both wanted different things. You are so young honey, please take my advice and stop dating and maybe just be friends with him. Find yourself first and your worth before being locked down. trust me!

Well I think it's just respect to follow the rules of whoever is paying for the house, not just a Hispanic parent thing, but I also get the whole having to ask permission for everything in that culture. If you're moving in just do it, but

1. I would feel a little uneasy/concerned about how long you were dating this man because grown men should date grown women, not teenagers
2. I would listen to why your parents think you're too young/not ready because usually outsiders may see more than you think (although sometimes parents just see you as their baby, this is true)

I moved out at 19 and I definetly regret it! Everything is so so expensive. Being said there's no right age to move out. My best friend waited until she was 22 and her and her BF broke up 3 months later and she had to move back. It really depends on you !

To be honest, move out on your own& let him move out on his own then, if anything wrong happens and you guys break up, you don't have to worry about him kicking you out

Trust me girl I know! The wrath of the Hispanic parents! My parents were like thy too at first when I was with my ex. They never believed in living together before marriage. I think if you want your parents to approve, he needs to show your parents that he's serious. That's the only thing that worked for me. G'luck and keep us posted!

Also, I understand the cultural background. I'm Indian and the guy I was with was Mexican. Very different worlds. I loved him with my heart but because our cultural background, we both knew it just wouldn't work out.
