Can you dye your hair in pregnancy?

Iv heard story's that it can be dangerous for a baby if you dye your hair. I'm naturally a redhead and have always had blonde highlights in my hair and just wondering if I got this done would I need to use a certain die or tell the hairdressers ect. I usually get my hair done every 3 month

I'm a hairdresser and it's safe to get your hair done while pregnant just make sure your salon is well ventilated. Most color is ultra low ammonia now just would advise against an all over lightener 😊

I asked my hairdresser and she said its fine but avoid bleaching the roots if you can, but most hair dye is pregnancy safe now (I'm in the uk)

It's a myth. I spoke to my hairdresser. When your pregnant your hair becomes thicker and fuller. If you are having scalp bleach then because it's on skin it's not recommended when pregnant. But as its highlights it doesn't touch the scalp. I had my hair highlighted throughout first pregnancy and will with my second. Just becareful of the fumes. Just mention you need to be in a ventilated area due to pregnancy. X

It's safe. They recommend waiting until the second trimester solely because the hormones are too all over in the first. It makes it harder for the dye to adhere to the follicle. Just make sure it's well ventilated.

Yes you can, but if you're early in pregnancy try to stay away from the harsh treatments like bleach.

I did my own hair thru my pregnancy, about three to 4 times (because I'm one of those crazy hair color chicks.)

I made sure to buy quality dye so my hair didn't become frizzy or overworked, and used conditioning treatments after each major change. I didn't know I was pregnant and has already bleached/colored my hair when I was 4 weeks along, again at around 18w, 28weeks, and I just dyed my hair again about 3 weeks ago. I'm 39 weeks 6days today.

Just make sure to be in a well ventalated room, and don't sit with the fumes. That's really the only concern. My OB actually thought it was great to see what color combos I came up with. I tend to stick towards green As you can see.
