I actually felt smothered the first three weeks. Everyone wanted to see my son. Wish I had the sense to do this!

Nope, I took all the help I could get, I had a C-section and my husband had to go back to work shortly after I gave birth.

This time around my mom will be coming up (I'm due the 25th) , I have a 2 year old and my husband only gets 10 days (including weekends) off so once again i will need some help.

This started a huge fight with my husband's family actually. I sent everyone an email explaining that my husband only has a week of so we want it to just be the 3 of us for the first week, no visitors. My family was like sounds good and his family freaked out!

Would've been nice, but there was zero chance of this happening for me, Family was practically breaking my door down. I said no to visitors one day and it was as if I assaulted them.

Wait until your second born. You are alone whether you like it or not. The hospital was crickets. I didn't mind one bit, I just think it's funny

My concern is more about pi*sing family off. Did they respect your opinion, or totally shame you for not letting the baby be a public matter and shared with the entire family. I know how exciting a new baby is... I'm worried family won't respect my privacy or just be hateful while doing so.

This is totally my grandma.  She was first in line at the hospital took the baby from me, unswaddled her and counted each toe. She wears lots of perfume and my daughter hated her for a long time. Now they are super close. This time around I am high risk and am banning anyone from the hospital.  My boyfriends mom has asked to be at the hospital if I am willing when the time comes and I think that'll be okay. But once we are home I am not going anywhere period. My grandma doesn't drive now which I respect but this is a high risk pregnancy and possibly my last. My boyfriends first and probably only. We want our us time.

I don't recall having many people over and if they did come over it was just for a few mins, nothing big. I personally don't mind.

I didn't want visitors right after birth and I won't want them this time. It's one reason I am utterly thankful we live thousands of miles away from all family, at least I don't have to worry about them randomly dropping in.
