Is it just me, or do miscarriages seem more common on this app than they truly are?

I understand a support system and talking about it can help. But it seems to me there is a more concentrated sample of lost pregnancies than successful ones. My doctor said miscarriages aren't as common as they appear on here. And they mostly happen before a woman even realizes she is pregnant.

I wondered the same thing.  As much as I read about them on here I was almost wondering if achieving a normal pregnancy was rare.

It just seem more common here because most women don't even realize they were pregnant at all, and most of the women here test early because they are trying. So out in the real world people hardly notice but in the TTC world they are on top of everything their bodies are doing and posting about it.

1 in 3 women will lose a child. I've had 3 miscarriages, all before 7 weeks.

I don't think so...but I have seen more posts from women who JUST found out they were pregnant...so maybe that's why it seems higher?  When I had my miscarriage at 5 weeks, had I not been tracking and hoping for pregnancy so much, I doubt it would have seemed more than a heavy period.  And there are many on here ttc...so they are likely really in tune with cycles and also getting those positive tests early.

I had a miscarriage two years ago and my dr said they are more common than people think and statistically 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in m/c. People dont often talk about it and I had no idea it was that common but maybe its mentioned moreso on here because its a pregnancy oriented app?

I'm 32 and have a ton of friends that have been trying for kids in the past five years...I can think of around 8 of them that have had one or more miscarriages. I think it's more common than generally discussed and also more likely to be noticed when someone is actively trying to get pregnant.

They are not more common on the app, but women who use the app are actively trying and testing early, so they know about early losses whereas other women who are not actively trying probably chalk it up to being late and having a bad month of cramps.

30-40% of pregnancy ends in miscarriage so pretty common unfortunately.

Statistically 1in 4 woman will experience a miscarriage.  I have had 2. One almost 9 years ago and one a little over a year ago. My sister in law lost her daughter at 23 weeks and my best friend lost her baby at 5 weeks.
