How to get on birth control

I don't have ensurance and I work as a nanny for a family privately so I have no proof of my income. I had a friend say that WIC will provide free birth control regardless of insurance even if you don't have children. Is this true? What all would I need to apply? Where do I start? I don't want to go to our local women's health care clinic because pro lifers bombard you at the door.
