When to buy a crib?

I'm the type of person that buys stuff as I have the money. Not necessarily when I need it, but if I know I'm going to. Most people I think would wait to buy the big items, but I've kept my eye out and I found a crib for $35. I will probably be getting a new mattress to go with it, but it can move to 3 levels and it can turn into a toddler bed as the kid grows. Which I think is perfect! I already have a dresser for the room, and it's off white. Kind of girly, but it should work for a baby boy for awhile if I end up having a boy (idk gender yet) but I do know I want off white furniture, so I will have to paint the crib (or better yet, have my husband do it 😅) it is sturdy, the only thing wrong with it, is it has a couple dings, which is fine, I don't necessarily need a brand new crib. Especially with this baby planning on being my only, at least for awhile.

So when did you start buying stuff? I do want to splurge on a car seat and get one of the ones that grows with the kid. But everything else, I don't necessarily need brand new. I'm 15 weeks. Hoping to find out the gender at my next appointment in 2 weeks.

Buy it! And go ahead and paint and seal it. You aren't painting with lead paint. If you are truly concerned you can put chew guards on the top. We do repurposed furniture in this house. My mom just turned the ugliest dresser into such a nice piece with chalk paint. It's too good a deal to pass up. There will be plenty more to buy

It's something you're going to need so if you find one you want. I got lots of stuff from my sister and sister in law and when I find stuff for a good price I've been getting it and I'm 15 weeks.

For that price, go for it! You could get more than later for it that once you fix it up.

Get it!!! I found my crib for $50 and i think i was around 14 weeks and no where near showing lol. I'm buying things as i have money too. You save more that way. Im now almost 26 weeks ...and stil barely showing so i probably look like a crazy baby hoarder 😂

I'm 15 weeks and I'll be buying my crib and mattress next month because money is tight (on my end) and I won't be getting anymore after next month  and my crib and mattress are the last super big items I need. I bought my stroller and car seat, clothes, blankets, I've got a carrier, I just need my swing, I want a Moby wrap, and a breast pump which I can get a pump through my insurance and her dad will buy the rest of the stuff she needs.

I would be careful with painting the crib. Most babies will chew on the top and on the bars, and you wouldn't want your baby ingesting it.
