Am I being unreasonable and too jealous?

Question

Is it unreasonable for me to ask my boyfriend of 2 years and 4 moths to get rid of prom pictures and high school dance photos of him and his ex gf that he was with for 8 years?

I get it if it's just a girl he took that's cute but a super long term gf... It makes me think of how long they were together and the special things that they had.  (He's my longest relationship so it makes me jealous 😞)

Unless he has them sitting out or framed on the wall, I don't see the problem in keeping them. It's sentimental. I'm married and I still have all my pictures from my last long term relationship, they're just put away in a box. My husband would never ask me to get rid of them, he knows it's a part of my past. Just because I occasionally remember it fondly doesn't mean I miss my ex or wish I was still with him.

If he doesn't have them displayed out then what's the big deal? There are memories from his life. He shouldn't have to get rid of them because they make you uncomfortable

Would you ask him to throw away trophies and awards from high school? Would you ask his mother to throw away pictures of him and his childhood friends? Would you ask that he never talk to another single female , tgat he met before you ever again?    No that all sounds rediculous.

So is asking him to throw away pictures of a teenage milestone in his life. PROM is a right of passage. It's just a picture.

Let it go, or make sure you burn all of your past too!

I've been with my husband for 14 yrs and still have my prom pics with my ex. It's the only prom he'll ever have. It is ridiculous to have him throw out a once in a lifetime memory like that... it's not that he wants her... it's his prom...  if you want a relationship to last more than 2 yrs, you need to be understanding

I wouldn't. That's a part of his life. It's a memory. As long as hey aren't hanging on he walks I don't see a problem with it.

I still have all of mine. I would ask him to make a memories box. Someday his kids may want to see his memories. I think asking him to get rid of them is wrong. Of packing them away is fine.

Like everyone else is saying, you can't make him get rid of them but if they're on display they need to be put away. I have picture of my exes and pictures of us together but they're in a box in my mothers house. I'm not getting rid of them even if he asks bc that was a chapter of my life and I'm not going to just pretend it didn't happen just bc it makes my partner jealous.

Jealousy sucks but you have to remember he might just like to remember part of his past. You're his future.
