Converting a car seat from UK standards to US standards?

I have this Joie convertible car seat that I love, and I'd like to bring it back to the U.S. with me when we move. But UK carseats don't have a chest strap, and I think you have to have the chest strap in the US. Does anyone know if there is a way to add a chest strap to make a car seat comply with US standards? I hate to leave it behind; it was pretty pricey!

Seats that are not made for the US do not Pass the standards here. They are not Apple to be converted (there is more to it than a chest clip) and are illegal to use here. You would need to buy a seat here .

You don't have to have them in the United States if it's "imported"

You do have to have a chest clip in the U.S. even if the seat is imported, its illegal not to have the chest clip in the U.S. Adding aftermarket chest clips to the car seat wouldn't be safe either. Honestly your best bet would be to get a new car seat when you get to the U.S. and make sure to look up the laws to whatever state you're going to. :)
