Already moms...do/did you use a sling?

Question

I am a first time mom. I registered for a baby carrier since my husband and I like to go hiking, but I was wondering about slings. I'm not sure if I would actually use it or not but I guess I won't know that until I actually have one in my hand and try it out.

In case anyone else is interested, I was looking at Seven Slings (free with code "PENNY1" thanks to Pennyhoarder.com) + shipping which is at least $12.99.

Those slings aren't adjustable. I highly recommend a ring sling like Maya. They fit much better and tend to be safer for baby.

I would avoid the seven slings! As stated above, they are not adjustable, and that can make them very, very uncomfortable. I loved a ring sling when baby was small! I had a maya wrap ring sling for my now 17mo old when he was smaller. I have a Tula ring sling waiting for baby in May. Also, I would have a look at the new beco ring sling!

I loved my maya wrap. And so did my babies. I wore it around the house, or at stores. Baby would fall asleep and I felt better having her close. Couldn't go without one.

We ended up using the baby bjorn carrier and my son loved it! I tried the adjustable wraps but I'm such a warm body, and with my hormones I was still having hot flashes and my son would get sweaty. He also didn't like being confined. He hated being swaddled from the beginning! We tried 3 different types of wraps because they are supposed to be better for baby's hips but he hated all of them so we tried the bjorn and he loved it! He's now 18 months with no hip or walking problems! It's really nice because baby can cuddle you or look out, has very nice head support and it washed up easily too! He would chew on it when he started teething at 2 months... Silly boy!

I voted for my moms sake. Lol! She used slings all the time with most of her children. Her favorite was Ergo!

I had One of those slings. They don't adjust and my son hated it, as did I :) next I got a Boba wrap. LOVED IT!! Anytime my son was fussy and it wasn't because of hunger, wet nappy, etc. I would put him in the Boba wrap and the fussing stopped :) when he got too heavy I switched to an Ergo. He's 3 and still likes to sit in the Ergo. When we hike we use Osprey. I also tried Baby Bjorn (no fan) and Stokke carrier (alright, but not as good as Ergo). I haven't tried Tula but hear good things!
