Cars in the UK?

Need some advice please.. 
I've got my driving test next week and if I pass then I want to get a car but obviously I'll be a first time driver in the UK so insurance will be higher.

What cars are there out there which are cheap to insurance and run?

hi I work in the motor trade the basic rule is the cheaper the value of the car the cheaper of the insurence. so for example fiat's, skoada's and kia's will be cheaper than ford fiesta, vauxhall Corsa,  VW golf because the cars a made better and cost to make. doesn't really matter what engine size it, it more do with with what going to cost the less to replace if you make a claim on your insurence. hope this helps :) xx

Clio or corsas mayb. I'm Northern Ireland and my first insurance was for Peugeot 206 and it was £2,200 but thankfully over yrs it has gone down. Good luck for ur driving test

It depends in your price rang... for me cheap would be an old bmw (e36) or just anything used as a boy racer car are going to be pricy! Stick with the old cars!

Don't go on engine size, when I first passes I had a fiat panda (old one) nor even a 1 litre engine that was £900 then I tried a 1.9 diesel 306 and it was only £500 for year, (going back a few years now)

Ask friends for registrations as get quotes beat why to find out x

I had a Toyota aygo when I first passed, small nippy and cheap to run. When you first pass any cars still expensive on insurance though!! X
