Out of curiosity did you get your thyroid levels checked?

When I went to go take the glucose test they also checked my TSH levels. I never had a problem with my thyroid before and when it was checked earlier in my pregnancy it came back normal. My doctor got back to me with the results today and told me that it's slightly underperforming. My levels were 5.29. I read that pregnancy can cause your levels to flucuate, but I'm worried it won't go back to normal after I have the baby. Anyone know anything about this? 😞

Pregnancy can affect a normal thyroid and usually goes back to normal after pregnancy.  You can choose to just have it monitored until after your baby is born to see if it goes back to normal.  If you start on the pills for it, it is for life.  I have had hypothyroidism for 4 years now and I'm on a 75 mcg of levothyroxin.  Luckily,  my levels have not increased so far since being pregnant.  If your o.b. or midwife didn't prescribe you medication I would just have it checked every 4 weeks until baby is here.

I was put on thyroid medicine. My level was similar to yours. I feel much better and have a lot more energy.

I've been hypothyroid for a year ( diagnosed) before I got pregnant. They check my levels every few months. It spiked a lil when I got pregnant, but lowered itself again. I know they checked my iron when they did my glucose test, cause they called to say my iron was low.

I have a sub clinical thyroid condition (most doctors won't treat at my pre-pregnancy level). My levels were about 5 right when I found out I was pregnant. My doctor put me on synthroid immediately to support my thyroid function, since it's so important to baby's development. I don't have any post-pregnancy experience, but he recommended I see an endocrinologist after delivery just to get it checked out, so it seems like something you should keep your eye on after your baby is born.
