Hurray! You're a Mom, Now What?
Being a new Mom is the most exciting and rewarding experience of your life. Holding that precious bundle of joy is both awe inspiring and terrifying. As the days turn into weeks and the sleep deprivation kicks in – you might start to wonder; “Is this it? Cleaning up vomit and changing dirty diapers all day? Not being able to take a shower because of this irrational fear that something bad is going to happen to the baby while you’re in there? Waking up at all hours of the night (even when the baby is sleeping) just to make sure they are breathing?”
Believe me when I tell you; you’re not losing your mind. You’re in what I like to call “New Mommy Survival Mode”. It’s an intense experience, but there are a few things that I’m going to share with you to help you keep your sanity.
1. Let things go– We all think that we have to be perfect. Perfect mom, perfect wife, perfect homemaker, perfect employee, etc. but when you have a newborn, spit up is definitely going to happen! Things are going to fall by the wayside. Babies take up an unbelievable amount of time and it’s going to take time to adjust to everything and that’s fine. So what if there’s a pile of clothes that need folding or dirty dishes in the sink, know that you will get the hang of it all and things will get done eventually.
