i am 22 weeks and i been having back pain and some weird symptoms  and it just popped out in my mind that what if my baby wants to come early? and things like that i got worried and panicked haha first time mom. but i am just wondering i know my baby girl is doing great.

I was in hospital at 22 weeks for contractions and short cervix and they told me that if baby had been born that day they would do nothing to help him live. Age of viability (when they will help baby) in the US begins between 23-24 weeks. It's a horrible scary experience. I was so disturbed to hear this from my Dr. Anytime you feel like something isn't right call your provider. That is what they are there for. Always better safe! Good luck, praying. Keep us updated!

24 is when they become "viable". My girlfriend had her daughter at 25 weeks weighing less than a pound. Spent tons of time in the NICU but is a happy healthy two year old now. 34 weeks and they have better developed lungs but would still spend time in NICU.

Usually around 23-24 weeks is the earliest the hospital will do anything to save a baby,  but those babies usually have long term problems and a low rate of survival (around 9/100).

The earliest surviving preemie was born in 2010 in Germany at 21 weeks 5 days. The record had been held by a baby born in 1987 before that at 22 weeks exactly.

Typically a baby is "safe" when they hit 28-30 weeks and that's when your survival rate gets higher and long term prognosis is better.
