The Lunar chronicles are very good. They are a twist on futuristic fairy tales. The first book is called Cinder (shes a cyborg.) They are definitely not what I expected, and had me sucked in.

The Mortal Instruments, there are like 6 books! And recently I have started reading The Atlantis Gene. It's a trigoly. The hunger games, The Selection!

I love all of Anne McCaffrey's books. She has several series, there's one that starts with a book called The Rowan that I love. Also the Dragonriders of Pern series. And there's another series that starts with Pegasus in Flight, I believe, that's really good. JD Robb's In Death series. Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake series. Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series. Nora Roberts has several good trilogies. Lynsay Sands' Argeneau Vampire series. Juliet Marillier has a good series called the Sevenwaters Trilogy. Kim Harrison's The Hollow series is really good, I love it. Scott Westerfield's The Uglies series. Rick Riordin Percy Jackson Series. Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters and Were-Hunters series is so good, I'm addicted lol.

Some of my favorite series are the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews (pseudo-urban fantasy with some romance mixed in), October Daye series by Seanan McGuire (fantasy), Newsflesh series by Mira Grant (zombie political thriller), and Mercy series by Patricia Briggs (urban fantasy/werewolves).  If you haven't read them, the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher is fantastic detective urban fantasy.  The same author has the Codex Alera series (completed) that's a pseudo-Roman fantasy and the Aeronaut's Windlass (first book in the series) steampunk airship series.

For sci-fi, I suggest the following books/series:
The Expanse (Book 1 is Leviathan Wakes)

The Safehold series by David Weber (as long as you like navel battles)

Ready Player One is way up there, if you like geek references.

Also (more fantasy than sci-fi) anything Discworld by the late, much lamented Terry Pratchett

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward is AMAZING. The next book comes out in April ;)
The Argeneau vampire series by Lynsay Sands is awesome. 
I'm reading the Kingdom series by Marie Hall, a twist on basic fairytales. They're pretty good books though.

I'd recommend the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo (first book is called Shadow & Bone), or The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen - it's two books into a Trilogy. Both are sci fi with romantic plot lines.
