To be or not to be?!

I live in the UK and I'm 40+5 today and had a midwife appt. I've been feeling very anxious and in a lot of pain and discomfort... During the appt I explained my concerns and about going too overdue and having a difficult birth. She offered a membrane sweep today and I agreed and had it done. I would much rather have a nice natural water birth, calm and with my husband present. The midwife then said if I don't give birth by 22, she's scheduled an induction. She then said, better hope things move along naturally, as having an induction is a long process and lots of monitoring and internal examinations and also most likely will need interventions like forceps etc... What a bloody thing to tell someone who is already nervous and anxious!!! I have not been impressed by the service I've received so far, and now on my final week, to be told that... There is nothing I can do to induce labour naturally... The books say baby will come when is ready... Then again they mention baby staying too long and getting distressed and pooping... Risk of still birth etc... Hopefully baby will make an entrance in the next few days... However if not, shall I just patiently wait for nature to take its course or go for the induction in a weeks time?!
