Do you believe the world is getting worse or that we are just more exposed now?

I think we're honestly just more exposed. A lot of people say "things weren't like this back in my day", but we have a a lot more technology now, which means more news coverage... Thoughts?

I think it's different problems.

100 years ago things were bad because you had a higher chance of dying from common diseases or things like childbirth. You still had economic depressions, high murder rates in certain cities, wars were FAR worse, racial divide, the list goes on.

Now science and technology has cured hundreds of diseases, connected people across the world, and we've made progress with racism. But you have people fighting over their rights, more religious/extremist divide (terrorism). We're also dealing with the repercussions of the industrial revolution and emissions from industries/vehicles/etc (global warming)... The list goes on.

Different times, different problems.

I think its worse because were exposed. Porn is at the click of a finger, reality shows are mind numbing, facts get mixed up but are taken as truth because it was on tv. Bizzare things that arent natural become normalized. We are ruining ourselves.

You guys forget there were slaves, world wars, black people literally getting butchered in the streets, women were second class citizens, gays were murdered for coming out of the closet?.

The world is getting consistently better in terms of our lives by any measure. The ways in which it's getting worse is the damage we're doing to our environment, which will, I imagine, cause a rapid decrease in living standards at some point

I think it's because we are ultra exposed to the bad things going on more so than ever before..

I think with social media and 24 hour news channels and the internet we have access to much more information than ever before.  Some things probably are worse than in the past,  but for a lot of things are perceived as being much worse when the facts show they are actually improving.  The gap between actual crime and people's perception of crime/the risk of being a victim is huge. Also, people bang on about teen pregnancy a lot now and how awful it is etc but the reality (here at least) is that teen pregnancy rates have been falling for decades. 
There are also an awful lot of things that are better now that people tend to forget when being nostalgic about the past - domestic violence was rife and nothing done about it, marital rape was legal, people routinely died of illnesses which are easily prevented or cured today, safety standards were none existent and people were regularly killed or seriously injured as a result etc

Its worse. Plenty of terrible things happened back in the 'good old days'. Brutal and sick things. Things weren't as known. But the way of life in general is far worse than before. I am not referring to 1st world countries rather the world as a whole. People are starving when we have more than enough food to share worldwide and stop starving in its tracks. We have the ability not to murder but how many people are murdered everyday? How many of us know people personally who were raped or murdered? Talk to anyone even 50 yrs ago and they don't have the same experiences our generation has come to view as how life is.

Both. This world is going to go from bad to worse as we know....

But I believe the media has a lot to do with it, such as the horrific crimes people commit are just broadcasted daily for children and mentally unstable ppl to see.

Don't worry too much tho, the government will try to fix it when then call for peace and security lol

Definately worse , everything was always exposed people just choose not to see it . But the world is getting worse and worse.
