Hospital stay

Kayla
Just curious how long you had to stay in the hospital. I had a normal vaginal birth first time around and had to stay 3 days. Is that the normal?  Please share your stories. How many of you passed out after birth? I did when they made me get up for the first time.

How in the world is 24 hours ok? 😮 That seems way too fast.

I was the same way. I was so uncomfortable in the hospital. I delivered at 3 on a Friday and was home by 5 the next day. Me and my daughter were okay, no need to stay.

It just depends on the person. They asked me if I wanted to stay another day but it's hard for me to rest in a hospital so I just wanted to go home.

Haven't given birth yet (any day now!!) but my sister in law just had a baby and stayed for about 36 hours. I think the average is 48 hours but I think it completely depends on how well the birth went and how well you and baby are doing.

I had a normal birth with no complications. Afterward I felt great but I had to stay until the baby was 24 hours old to be released.

First was 48 hrs. Second I pushed to leave at 24hrs. If everything is great and you and baby are healthy with no complications why would you need to stay longer than 24 hrs?

I would only be worried about the baby. Not myself.

I had to stay for 3 days due to preeclampsia, high blood pressure, and my baby losing too much weight because my milk and want coming in fast enough.

48 hours due to group b positive and no time for antibiotics.

For my hospital they'll let you leave early if you want as long and mom and baby are good. I tested positive for GBS so they really want you to stay for 48 hours after baby is born just to make sure there is no sign of passed infection.

In Austria they'll let you leave as early as 3hours after birth and a midwife will visit you for five consecutive days to check on you and the baby. But most women stay 2-3 days.
