So my mother knows that Mexico is on the CDC list for Zika with a recommendation of avoiding travel. My little sister has T1D, my mother has an Autoimmune disorder as do I, I'm obviously pregnant, and we have several small children in our family as well as my sister could be pregnant at any time now. All that considered my mother decided to start planning a trip to maxi I for the ENTIRE FAMILY!!! My sister & brother in law as well myself and my husband are refusing to be involved. My mother knows all about Zika I have spoken to her on many occasions about it. Anyone with a compromised immune system can be at risk for some serious complications obviously pregnant women or those expecting to become pregnant are the biggest concern. She is literally playing dumb to the entire thing saying it's perfectly safe for her and my father and little sister to go. I have made it very clear that if they do they will not be around us or the baby until they are tested and fully cleared. She seems to think it's not a big deal and we should all just suck it up and go. I could not be more pissed and disappointed in her that she is willing to put my unborn child and my little sister at risk as well as herself not to mention possible bringing the virus here and spreading it.
